Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion in the Dominican Republic and many churches such as the one below can be seen throughout the country. In addition to Catholicism, there are various Christian beliefs such as Protestantism that also heavily influence the spiritual life of the nations inhabitants. Due to the fact that the Dominican Republic is a blended culture you will also see various religious practices such as Santeria or Brujeria (witchcraft) which has African and native origins, performed by various Dominicans as well.
